From foodies to families and thrill seekers to relaxation seekers, The Strip has activities for every type of visitor.

Excited? Let’s get started discovering the best things to do on The Strip in Las Vegas!

1. Take a helicopter ride over the Las Vegas Strip

The lights of Las Vegas are legendary, and one of the most memorable ways to experience them in all their splendor is from a helicopter.

Soaring over the Strip at night is one of the most exciting things to do in Las Vegas!

On a night helicopter flight over the Strip, you will fly over the most iconic Las Vegas landmarks, such as the Fountains of Bellagio, the Eiffel Tower at the Paris Resort, the Pyramid at the Luxor, and the Campanile at the Venetian.

Look for the powerful beam of light shooting up into the sky from the Luxor, and the graceful STRAT Skypod, the tallest freestanding observation tower in the USA.

And bask in the beauty of the millions of lights spread out below you as you soar over The Strip and downtown Las Vegas.

It’s a thrilling bucket-list experience for adventure-loving visitors to Vegas!

And if you’re visiting over the Fourth of July or New Year’s Eve, you can make it extra special by watching the fireworks display from a helicopter!

The narrated sightseeing ride in an Airbus ECO-Star EC-130 helicopter lasts 10 to 12 minutes, and covers both sides of the Las Vegas Strip and the historic downtown Las Vegas district. It departs from a helicopter tour terminal located near the Las Vegas airport.

>> Book the night helicopter tour over the Las Vegas Strip now!

You can also book the flight with limo transfers to the helicopter terminal and back.

2. Take a spin on the LINQ High Roller

The largest observation wheel in the world, the High Roller at the LINQ is one of the most iconic attractions along the Las Vegas Strip.

A spin on the High Roller is, without question, among the best things to do on The Strip.

You’ll soar 550 feet into the air in your fully-enclosed, roomy, air-conditioned cabin, enjoying 360-degree views over the Strip along with audio commentary on the history of Vegas and some of the most famous landmarks along the Vegas Strip.

The wheel is superbly positioned in the center of the Strip, for great views in every direction.

If you don’t want to go up over the Strip in a helicopter, the High Roller is an excellent option for epic views from above.

The LINQ High Roller takes 30 minutes to complete the rotation, and you can choose from daytime (afternoon) or evening/night time slots. The last ride leaves at 11.30 p.m. Sunset is a popular time for photography.

We went both during the day and at night and loved both experiences!

There’s also the option for a pricier happy half hour ride, which includes an open bar with an in-pod bartender.

And if you are traveling with kids, a spin on the High Roller is one of the most kid-friendly things to do in Vegas. Children 3 and under ride free.

>> Book your tickets for the LINQ High Roller now!

3. Enjoy a gondola ride at The Venetian

The Venetian is one of the must-visit resorts along the Las Vegas Strip.

Here you’ll find reproductions of Venetian landmarks such as the Campanile (the bell tower), the facade of the Doge’s Palace, the Rialto Bridge, the Venetian Lagoon, Saint Mark’s Square, and, of course, the Grand Canal.

While there’s a lot to admire and many things to enjoy at the Venetian, an experience you can’t miss here is a gondola ride!

A gondola at The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada
A gondola ride at the Venetian is a must-have Vegas Strip experience!

Just like in Venice, you’ll ride in an authentic gondola, floating under bridges and balconies, and alongside shops and cafes. Each gondola is operated by a singing gondolier, so you can enjoy being serenaded as you float!

While it’s a popular couples’ activity on the Las Vegas Strip, a gondola ride is also a fun thing to do as a family.

You can pick from an indoor ride, under the faux sky, or an outdoor ride, which is especially delightful on a nice weather day.

And if you are in the resort at the time of the Gondolier March (it happens twice a day, in the morning and in the afternoon), it’s super fun to watch! The gondoliers march along the indoor canal, singing in unison, as they arrive to start their shift.

This combination ticket includes a shared outdoor ride on a gondola, plus admission to the Madame Tussauds Museum, and, if you choose the trio option, a meal at the Hard Rock Cafe.

4. Be captivated by a Cirque du Soleil show

Enjoying a show (or three!) is one of the best things to do on the Las Vegas Strip.

While you’ll find a plethora of shows up and down the Strip from which to pick, we never visit Vegas without attending at least one Cirque du Soleil show.

For sheer scale, magnificent settings, and spectacular displays of athleticism and grace, we feel you can’t do better than a Cirque du Soleil show!

A scene from O by Cirque du Soleil, showing at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, Nevada
Watch O by Cirque du Soleil at the Bellagio PC: Cirque du Soleil

Currently you can choose from one of six Cirque du Soleil shows on the Las Vegas Strip:

O by Cirque du Soleil at the Bellagio features acrobatics in the air, on land, and, most significantly, in water. Synchronized swimmers, divers, acrobats, and other performers create magic on the stage in this enthralling 90-minute show.

We’ve seen O twice and will likely see it yet again on one of our trips to Vegas!

>> Book tickets for O by Cirque du Soleil!

KÀ by Cirque du Soleil at the MGM Grand is the first production by the company to have a story line. But even without the story, the acrobatics, dancing, costumes and stage create for a mesmerizing spectacle.

is the first Cirque du Soleil show we enjoyed and we still have fond memories of it.

Mystère by Cirque du Soleil at Treasure Island features stunning imagery and costumes, along with fun acrobatics and powerful displays of raw athletic prowess.

>> Book tickets for Mystère by Cirque du Soleil!

Mad Apple by Cirque du Soleil at New York New York pays homage to the Big Apple with a lively mix of circus, comedy, singing, and dancing.

Not otherworldly and mysterious like the three shows we’ve listed above, but a lot of fun nevertheless.

>> Book tickets for Mad Apple by Cirque du Soleil!

Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque du Soleil at Mandalay Bay is a spectacular combination of music, dance, acrobatics, and visuals. You’ll enjoy the star’s greatest hits in a superb surround sound environment!

The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil at The Mirage rounds out the troupe’s Vegas Strip offerings. This show is a multi-sensory journey back to the 60s, with an iconic soundtrack, daring stunts on the trampoline and roller skates, as well as aerial acrobatics.

Good to know: The Mirage has been sold, but per reports, the show is scheduled to continue through the end of 2023.

5. Enjoy FlyOver Las Vegas

One of the newest attractions on the Las Vegas Strip, FlyOver Las Vegas offers you the opportunity to experience the magic of flight, without leaving terra firma!

It’s one of the most fun things to do on The Strip.

Through the use of cutting-edge technology, FlyOver Las Vegas allows you to soar, swoop, and glide over some of the most gorgeous landscapes on our planet.

FlyOver Las Vegas in Vegas, Nevada
Experience the thrills of flight without taking off! PC: FlyOver Las Vegas

There are three immersive films you can currently see: Wonders of the American West, Windborne: Call of the Canadian Rockies, or Iceland. Each film is 30 minutes long, but allow about one hour for the experience.

We haven’t yet experienced FlyOver Las Vegas, but we have seen one of the three offerings (the Canadian Rockies film) at FlyOver Canada in Vancouver.

The screen is gigantic, and the hanging seats swoop and dip in time to the flight and the music, making you feel like you are really in the plane.

It was so realistic that we actually found ourselves gripping the handle of the seat lock at times, thinking we were about to fall! We felt the spray from the mist, and heard the wind howling.

In short, we LOVED the film (and all the special effects!), and can’t wait to experience the other two.

Look for FlyOver Las Vegas right next to the Hard Rock Cafe on the Las Vegas Strip.

6. Watch the iconic Bellagio Fountain Show on the Vegas Strip

No matter how many times you’ve seen the iconic fountains sway and leap and dip to the music, you can’t help slowing down, or stopping, to watch yet again, if the show happens to be on as you stroll by the Bellagio!

An enchanting synchrony of streams of water, light, and music, the Fountains of Bellagio show is one of the best free things to do on The Strip.

All you need to do is snag a prime viewing spot a few minutes before a show is scheduled to start, and have your smartphone or camera ready to record the performance!

Ingeniously choreographed so that every show is unique in its interpretation, the Fountains of Bellagio offer something new each time you watch.

The Fountains of Bellagio in Las Vegas, Nevada
The Bellagio Fountain Show is a must-watch free show along the Las Vegas Strip!

The Fountains of Bellagio are said to be the largest and most complex water, light, and sound show ever created, with several hundred fountains forming the mesmerizing display.

Some of the streams of water shoot up as high as 450 feet into the air!

Set in the lake in front of the Bellagio Resort along the Las Vegas Strip, the fountain shows occur everyday, in the afternoons and evenings.

On weekdays, you can catch a show once every 30 minutes from 3.00 to 6.30 p.m., and every 15 minutes from 7.00 p.m. until midnight.

On weekends and holidays, shows occur every 30 minutes from noon until 6.30 p.m., and every 15 minutes from 7.00 p.m. until midnight.

Note that shows may be canceled if the weather is inclement.

For an extra special experience, you can book a table for dinner with a view of the fountains. We like Lago, at the Bellagio, for its Italian menu.

If it’s your first time in Vegas, stroll the Strip with a local for a unique introduction to the famous street! The 2 to 3 hour tour is limited to 8 participants, for a personalized experience.

7. Stroll through the Bellagio Conservatory and Gardens

Another attraction at the Bellagio you cannot miss is the Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens.

With striking colorful exhibits that change five times a year — Lunar, Spring, Summer, Fall, and Holiday — you’ll have a fabulous walk through the Bellagio Conservatory no matter what time of year you visit The Las Vegas Strip.

A Holiday installation at the Bellagio Conservatory in Las Vegas, Nevada
Strolling the Bellagio Conservatory is a fun thing to do on The Strip!

You’ll see giant-sized figures that reflect the seasonal theme, decorations that hang from the super high ceiling, and, sometimes, displays that have moving components that will delight young kids (and the young at heart).

When we visited during the holidays one year, for example, there were giant polar bears, and a little train that went through a tunnel in a snowy landscape.

If you are a photographer, you’ll find plenty of inspiration here!

The resort has whole teams of engineers and horticulturists that create the showstopper multi-sensory exhibits. And when it’s time to change an installation, much of the live plant material is repurposed instead of just being tossed.

Good to know: There are a few “dark dates” through the year, when the installations are being changed out, so if you do not want to miss this beautiful experience, check the Conservatory exhibit calendar before your visit.

8. Go ziplining over The Strip!

Thrill-seeking visitors to the Las Vegas Strip will want to check out the Fly LINQ Zipline, right along The Strip.

You launch from a 12-story tower just off Las Vegas Boulevard, and soar more than 1,100 feet above The Strip, going down the LINQ Promenade and finishing up at the LINQ High Roller.

You’ll zipline in a seated position, so you can enjoy the views and snap photos, at speeds of up to 35 miles per hour.

The Fly LINQ zipline operates everyday (weather permitting) from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m., so you can choose from a daytime ride, or an after-dark ride, to see The Strip all lit up.

>> Book your tickets for the Fly LINQ zipline now!

9. Take in the views from the deck of the Eiffel Tower

One of the most recognizable landmarks along The Strip, the Eiffel Tower at the Paris Resort is a half-scale replica of the original icon located in Paris, France.

The Eiffel Tower observation deck is located 46 stories up and offers expansive views in all directions.

Since the tower is located in roughly the middle of The Strip, you can view landmarks along Las Vegas Boulevard in both directions, as well as the Bellagio Fountains, directly across and down.

But from the deck, you can also look out well beyond the city, into the surrounding desert and distant mountains.

The views are especially beautiful after dark, when the lights of The Strip are all on. Sunset is another great time to be here.

There’s a safety grille at the top, but you should still be able to take photos (there are a few slightly largish openings in the grille as well).

The viewing deck is open everyday from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m.

>> Book tickets for the Eiffel Tower Observation Deck at The Paris Resort now!

Even if you do not go up to the viewing deck, it’s worthwhile walking over to the Paris Resort to see the tower illuminated at night. It looks stunning!

There’s a free light show that happens every 30 minutes, from sunset until midnight. During the show, you’ll see enhanced illumination of the tower, sometimes in the colors of the flag of France.

10. Explore the Flamingo Wildlife Habitat

Want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the concrete jungle for a bit? You can, at the Wildlife Habitat at The Flamingo Resort, right along The Vegas Strip!

Walking the Wildlife Habitat is one of the best things to do on the Las Vegas Strip in the daytime.

The four-acre gardens feature lush landscaping, with winding streams, little waterfalls, and a variety of birds and fish, plus turtles.

The stars of the Wildlife Habitat are, of course, the pink flamingos!

Other than the flock of Chilean flamingos, look for brown pelicans and other waterfowl, native hummingbirds at the feeders, and local songbirds.

In the water, you’ll find colorful koi, sturgeon, albino catfish, and turtles.

On nice weather days, strolling the gardens is a fun activity for kids and adults, and it’s free.

The Flamingo Wildlife Habitat is open everyday from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.

11. Go skyjumping at The Strat (or just enjoy the views!)

The STRAT Tower is the tallest freestanding observation tower in the USA.

The STRAT Tower is located along the Strip in Las Vegas, Nevada

Adventure-loving visitors to The Strip can experience the ultimate adrenaline rush when they skyjump off The Strat!

Scream your lungs off as you dive down from the 108th floor of the STRAT Tower on this heart-pounding open air jump.

From 829 feet above the Las Vegas Strip, you’ll catapult down to the landing pad, at a speed of up to 40 miles per hour. Although it’s a controlled descent along a vertical zip line, it won’t feel like it as you hurtle down.

If you manage to keep your eyes open, you’ll have epic views of The Strip on your way down.

When you check in, you can opt for photos of your descent, or wrist cam footage, for an added cost.

SkyJump is offered daily, from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m.

The Skyjump isn’t the only thrilling adventure at The STRAT. You can also experience Thrill Rides!

Enjoy Big Shot, which shoots you 160 feet into the air at 45 mph, Insanity, where you spin around as you dangle from the SkyPod, and X-Scream, a roller coaster that teeter totters you over the edge of the SkyPod before pulling you back again.

Rides are offered daily from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m., weather permitting. At the time of writing, Insanity is indefinitely closed.

12. Snap photos under the Las Vegas Sign

First time in Vegas? You’ll likely want some photos of yourself posing under that iconic Vegas sign!

The “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign is located at the airport end of Las Vegas Boulevard, so plan on stopping to click photos on your way in or out of The Strip.

Although the sign is located on an island in the middle of a very busy street, there’s a parking lot where you can safely park before you get out to pose under the sign.

Unless you hit it early in the day, you’ll likely have to wait a bit for your turn, especially if you want photos of the sign when it’s lit up.

13. Enjoy a drink at the Chandelier bar

The Chandelier Bar at The Cosmopolitan is the place to go on the Las Vegas Strip if you want your drink to be an experience instead of just a drink!

Featuring extravagant curtains of beaded lights and drop-dead-gorgeous chandeliers, the bar is an architectural and art marvel.

Enjoying a drink here is one of the best things to do at the Cosmopolitan!

The multi-story structure has lounges on three levels: the bottom, inside the chandelier, and the top of the chandelier. Each level has its own unique vibe and its own cocktail menu.

For a high-energy and more casual vibe, you’ll want to pick the bottom level.

The upper levels are quieter, and the menus feature some exotic ingredients, so if you are a serious cocktail enthusiast, pick the middle or top level.

The bottom level is open 24 hours, the middle level from 5 p.m. until 2 a.m. daily, and the top level from 11 a.m. until 3 a.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. until 3 a.m. Friday through Sunday.

14. Admire the Art at The Aria

Art enthusiasts will find a lot to admire along The Strip, including Dale Chihuly’s Fiori di Como, the stunning ceiling sculpture in the lobby of the Bellagio.

But at the Aria, you can take a dedicated self-guided tour of their impressive fine art collection, scattered throughout the public spaces in the campus. There’s no fee.

Even before you enter, gawk at the Big Edge, by Nancy Rubins. The colorful sculpture is made up of hundreds of canoes, carefully brought together into a striking piece of art.

Also outside, on the pedestrian bridge near the Waldorf Astoria, you’ll find Typewriter Eraser by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen. It’s 24 feet tall, and an object of curiosity for younger visitors.

And just inside, forming a backdrop to the registration area, Maya Lin’s Silver River immediately draws your gaze. It’s a dramatic representation of the Colorado River, made of cast, reclaimed silver.

There are close to two dozen pieces in the collection. If you plan to take the tour, be sure to download a brochure before your visit!

15. Visit the Mandalay Bay Shark Reef

Located in the Mandalay Bay Resort along The Strip, the Shark Reef Aquarium is a must-visit if you enjoy observing marine life.

The exhibit features more than 2,000 creatures, from different types of sharks to endangered green sea turtles, giant rays, piranha, and even a Komodo dragon!

The main tank in the exhibit is one of the largest in the USA. You’ll walk through underwater tunnels, to observe the marine life up close.

This is a great experience on The Strip for kids and adults alike. Children four and under enter free.

There’s also an undersea virtual reality experience to enjoy (age 5 and up).

Motion seats in the VR Theater allow you to virtually experience the excitement of an undersea adventure in the South Pacific. Swim with humpback whales and their calves, or dive with tiger sharks in the Bahamas!

The exhibit is open from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., with last admission is at 7 p.m.

The aquarium also holds special feeding events in which you can participate for a fee: stingray feed (9.15 a.m. daily, excluding Wednesdays) and zebra shark feed (12.45 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday).

16. Relax at the Mandalay Bay Beach

Fancy some time at the beach while you’re in Vegas? The Mandalay Bay Resort, along the Las Vegas Strip, is famous for its pool and beach areas.

The fabulous 11-acre water playground has multiple pools, a beach with real sand, loungers to catch some rays, an enormous wave pool, a lazy river, and cabanas for relaxing in the shade.

Some parts of the pool complex are adult-only areas, but there are also plenty of areas for families to relax and have fun.

The wave pool is one of the signature features of the complex, with waves that can reach up to six feet high. Guests 48 inches tall and up can ride the tides here.

Floating down the lazy river is super relaxing. You can bring your own inner tube, or buy one at the resort.

The pool complex is open seasonally, during the warmer months of the year, generally from late March through some time in October.

Guests of the resort hotels at the Mandalay Bay complex have free access to the pool and beach areas. Lockers and cabanas are available for a fee.

Moorea Beach Club is an adult-only day club experience at the pool complex.

17. Enjoy an Upscale Las Vegas Buffet

Although buffets are being replaced by food halls in many Las Vegas resorts, there’s still some nostalgia associated with eating your fill at a Vegas style buffet.

We like to eat at at least one of the top four buffets in Las Vegas whenever we visit.

Bellagio Buffet in Vegas, Nevada
The Bellagio Buffet features lots of cuisines

Some of the buffets have a brunch version and a more expensive dinner version. Dinner buffets usually include more (and pricier) seafood options.

The Wynn Buffet is possibly our number one pick for a Vegas buffet. The quality is topnotch, and there’s enough variety but not overwhelmingly so.

Desserts at the Wynn Buffet in Las Vegas, Nevada

Wicked Spoon at the Cosmopolitan is a close second. We love their Angry Mac and Cheese, the salads are fresh and well-made, and their dessert section is outstanding!

The Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars Palace has more food choices than most people can hope to try in one sitting.

And the Bellagio Buffet rounds out our top four picks, with excellent pasta and pizza, and gelato!
